Cartridge Heater Ceramics - steatite

Multi-hole technical ceramic insulation stones that form the inner backbone of cartridge heaters. Designed to meet the mold heating needs in heavy industry, plastic injection, and packaging machines, they ensure heating wires are positioned without short-circuiting. Material Options: Steatite (C221) and Cordierite (C520) Application Area: Cartridge heater manufacturing, hot runner systems, medical devices

Manufactured from high-purity technical ceramics, cartridge heater stones are the fundamental insulation and conduction elements of cartridge heaters used in heavy industry. Parallel hole channels extending along the cylindrical body allow the incandescent resistance wire to be wound safely and at equal intervals without short-circuiting. With high dielectric strength preventing electricity from leaking to the outer body, these products are widely used in plastic injection molds, packaging machines, hot runner systems, and medical devices. They are supplied in 2, 4, 6, or more hole configurations with countless diameter and length options with millimetric precision to meet specific needs.

Cartridge heater stones are manufactured from two different types of technical ceramics, depending on the technical requirements of the operating environment:

Steatite (C221): Densified by firing between 1280-1350°C during production , this material has an open porosity value of 0.0%. Thanks to the addition of barium carbonate, its mechanical strength is quite high, with a cross-bending strength of 140 MPa. It has a thermal conductivity of 2 - 3 W/m·K and provides a high level of electrical insulation.

Cordierite (C520 - Pyrolit): Based on magnesium-aluminum-silicate minerals, this material exhibits extraordinary resistance to thermal shock thanks to its fine-grained and 20% porous structure. With a maximum operating temperature of 1240°C and a thermal conductivity of 1.3 - 1.8 W/m·K, it is an ideal ceramic for applications experiencing frequent and rapid temperature changes.
