Resistohm 70
Resistohm 70 is an austenitic resistance wire that exhibits extraordinary oxidation resistance due to its high chromium content. With its strong structure against "green rot" corrosion, it performs with a long lifetime in furnaces with alternating atmospheres and advanced heating systems. It can be thought of as an alternative for Resistohm 80 in tight places thanks to its high resistivity.

Manufactured by Aperam (formerly Rescal), Resistohm 70 is an austenitic resistance wire. The most important feature that distinguishes this product and makes it stand out from other nickel-chromium alloys is its extraordinary oxidation resistance due to its high chromium content. This strong oxidation resistance gives it a very good lifetime in furnace applications and ensures a satisfactory lifetime even when the operating atmosphere is alternatively oxidizing and reducing. Thanks to its high chromium percentage, it is much less subject to "green rot" corrosion—which severely shortens the life of heating elements—compared to other NiCr alloys.
Because of its high resistivity, it is sometimes mathematically more advantageous to use Resistohm 70 rather than another standard nickel-chromium alloy to meet specific design and power calculations in advanced heating systems. Typical applications include industrial electric furnaces, high-performance domestic electrical appliances, and various heating elements. It can be supplied in drawn round wire and flat wire (strip/ribbon) forms.
