Resistohm 40

Resistohm 40 is a high-quality resistance wire developed for domestic heating applications where cost is a vital factor. It can be safely used up to 1050°C and offers the advantage of a speedier rise in temperature compared to other nickel-chromium alloys due to its high temperature coefficient.

Resistance Wires
Alloy 37% Nickel - 18% Chromium - Bal. Iron
Max. Operating Temperature 1050°C
Resistivity (at 20°C) 1.05 Ω.mm²/m
Form Round/Ribbon Wire

Manufactured by Aperam, Resistohm 40 is a resistance wire with a nominal composition of 37% nickel, 18% chromium, 2% silicon, and rare earth additions, with the balance consisting of iron (Fe). This specific composition makes it a suitable and highly economical alternative for a large field of domestic heating applications, particularly when temperature is not too high and cost is a vital factor.

This alloy, which has a maximum operating temperature of 1050°C, features a resistivity of 1.05 Ω.mm²/m. Its high temperature coefficient allows for a speedier rise in temperature than other NiCr alloys. Furthermore, when an electric furnace must operate in a carburing or semi-reducting atmosphere, this alloy has distinct advantages compared to other Nickel-Chromium wires which have a higher percentage of nickel. The most frequent use fields are heating accumulators, convectors, and general heaters.
