Resistohm 145
Resistohm 145 is an iron-chromium-aluminium based resistance wire capable of reaching extreme temperatures up to 1300°C in big diameters, featuring a resistivity of 1.45 Ω.mm²/m. It offers stable performance in heavy industry furnaces within the ceramic, chemical, and metallurgic sectors.

Manufactured by Aperam, Resistohm 145 is a resistance wire containing 23% chromium and 6% aluminium, with the balance consisting of iron. It has a resistivity of 1.45 Ω.mm²/m.
The most prominent capability of this alloy is its ability to reach operating temperatures up to 1300°C when used in big diameters. It is preferred for resistances in electric furnaces for ceramic, chemical, and metallurgic industries, and for applications requiring very high temperatures. It performs stably in atmospheres containing sulfur, particularly if they are oxidizing.
The life time of the wire is directly influenced by the formation of a protective oxide coat. To protect the wire from chemical attacks before operating in reducing conditions, it is recommended to form a white-grey aluminium oxide coat on its surface; therefore, Resistohm 145 is generally supplied preoxidised. Prejudicial atmospheres containing nitrogen, ammonia, and hydrocarbons are not recommended, as they prevent the formation of this oxide coat and considerably reduce the wire's life time at high temperatures.
