Manufactured by Aperam, Resistohm 125 is a resistance wire belonging to the iron-chromium-aluminium (FeCrAl) family, containing 17% chromium and 3% aluminium, with the balance consisting of iron. It has a very high resistivity of 1.25 Ω.mm²/m. This high resistivity capacity provides a significant cost and design advantage to manufacturers as it allows reaching targeted electrical values using less wire.

Although this alloy can withstand up to 1200°C, it is recommended for applications where the temperature on the wire remains under 1100°C for an efficient service life. It provides highly successful results, especially in heating elements operating out in the open, in resistances inside quartz tubes, in emergent heaters, and in rheostats. Due to the characteristic properties of its FeCrAl structure, its elongation rate at high temperatures is low and dimensional fluctuations can be observed. However, with the major cost savings and technical advantages it offers, it is a safely preferred material in many industrial applications.
