Manufactured by Aperam, Resistohm 140 is a resistance wire containing 22% chromium and 5% aluminium, with the balance consisting of iron. It has a very high resistivity of 1.40 Ω.mm²/m.
The most prominent feature of this alloy is the high use temperature it can reach. It operates in heating applications at temperatures up to 1280°C under continuous conditions. It is particularly useful for heating elements of industrial furnaces where a high heat rate is necessary. This heat resistance meets the high temperature requirements in heavy industry furnaces.
