Resistohm135
Resistohm 135 is an iron-chromium-aluminium resistance wire that offers an excellent life time in sulphurous and carbonaceous environments, withstanding up to 1200°C. Thanks to its high resistivity and chemical resistance, it performs exceptionally well in ceramic cooktops, tubular heaters, and fuel burners.

Manufactured by Aperam, Resistohm 135 is a resistance wire containing 20% chromium and 4.5% aluminium, with the balance consisting of iron. It has a very high resistivity of 1.35 Ω.mm²/m and can be safely used as a heating element at temperatures up to 1200°C. As it is not a stainless alloy, it must be used in a dry environment in order to avoid rust.
The most prominent feature of this wire in the industry is the excellent life time it offers in sulphurous environments, particularly when the atmosphere is also oxidizing. Because of its high resistance to carbonaceous atmospheres, it is the chosen material for the production of cigarette lighters and fuel burner elements. When it must operate in a reducing atmosphere, a preoxidation process (2 hours at more than 1000°C out in the open air) is necessary. The white-grey aluminium coat formed during this heat treatment highly preserves the wire from future chemical attacks. It is normally used in top cookers with ceramics, pottery furnaces elements, and tubular elements.
