Manufactured by Aperam, CuNi 44 is a resistance alloy containing 44% nickel and manganese additions, with the balance consisting of copper. It has a resistivity of 0.49 Ω.mm²/m and can be safely used up to a maximal operating temperature of 600°C.
The most prominent and important feature of this product in the industry is its very low temperature coefficient. This feature ensures that the wire keeps its electrical resistance value highly stable even if the ambient temperature changes or if it heats up due to current passing through it. Exactly for this reason, it is the most trusted material in electrical current control resistors, known as "cold resistances" in the industry, and in precision measurement testers. It is also a widely preferred material for the manufacturing of thermocouples because it develops a high electromotive force in association with other metals. Being a very malleable and ductile alloy, CuNi 44 presents a good resistance to oxidation while also offering very good solderability.
